The Model 1855 U.S. Percussion Rifle Musket was manufactured from 1857 to 1861 with an estimated total of just over 59,000 muskets. The muskets were manufactured at both the Springfield and Harper's Ferry Arsenal. This replica musket was originally manufactured by Armi Sport and has been refinished and a fine quality R. Hoyt barrel has been fitted. The color case hardened lock is marked with a 1857 date. It has the long range rear sight, and a patchbox. This model was widely used in the U.S. Civil War.

The 40" Robert Hoyt barrel carries the long rang rear sight. The .58 caliber bore is bright and clean. The bottom breech end of the barrel is marked R.A. Hoyt 0042 Yeck .576 1-60". We recommend the military style 500 grain U. S. style .575" Minie bullet, we offer this Lyman Mold our #575-213.
The walnut stock has been very neatly finished with a satin sheen. The stock has a few small handling marks, but otherwise appears to be as new. The barrel is mounted with three barrel bands with forward mounted band springs. The bands and band springs are all finished to a dark blue, the blue finish shows some minor wear from use. The band springs also secure the ramrod. A steel muzzle cap protects the end grain of the stock.

Trigger reach is 13-3/4", and weight is 9.8 pounds.
The furniture is polished to a bright satin finish. The buttplate comb is stamped U.S. and 57. The side flat is stamped with a V over P with a upraised eagle's head.

The barrel is fitted with the long range rear sight. The front sight is a military style blade sight soldered behind the muzzle.
The military style rounded toe fades into the lock panels. The triggerguard is color case hardened to mottled blue, gray, and purple. The front of the triggerguard bow mounts the rear swivel lug. The middle barrel band mounts the forward swivel lug.
The percussion lock has a high hump to accommodate the Maynard paper tape primer. These replicas only replicate the door, no internal parts are fitted. The tail of the lock is stamped 1857. The tape primer door is stamped with a eagle. The front of the lock plate is stamped U.S. SPRINGFIELD.
Small washer style side plates mount the lock bolts. The side panel is stamped with a maker's mark with the initials RH in an oval to simulated a period inspector's mark. The buttstock displays some attractive figure.
