Stocked in dark stained imported walnut, this .54 caliber percussion rifle has a 15/16" octagon 28" barrel to give it a modest weight. Trimmed in brass furniture with a large bow single trigger. The factory finished walnut stock is finished to a satin sheen, the barrel is blued, and the lock is color case hardened in mottled colors. All brass furniture is polished bright. Average weight is 8.5 pounds with a trigger reach of 13-3/4" making it well suited for today's average size shooter.
The .54 caliber, 28" long barrel is finished to a deep blue color. The barrel is rifled with a 1 in 48" twist to shoot either patched round balls, or conical bullets. The barrel is fitted with a square partridge style front sight, and elevation adjustable rear sight. All of the factory markings can be found on the top three flats of the barrel at the breech.
Not too long, not too heavy, not too valuable to carry in the woods while stalking game, this rifle will become your favorite hunting partner. This is an ideal rifle for hunting white tail deer, mule deer, or elk, especially during specific muzzle loading seasons. Maintenance is easy, the hooked breech allows the barrel to be easily dismounted for cleaning without risk of wetting the stock with water containing black powder residue. To dismount the barrel, put the lock on half cock, withdraw the ramrod, drift the key past the underlug, and the barrel can be lifted from the barrel channel for ease of cleaning. Remove the nipple and place the breech end of the barrel in a bucket of soapy water. Run a wet patch down and up the bore, the pumping action will flush all the fouling from the barrel. Once the bore is clean, run a dry patch down the bore to pick up any moisture followed by a oily patch. Dry and oil the exterior then reassemble the rifle. The factory ramrod has 10-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories. Order a cleaning jag, ball puller, and patch worm, sold separately. The color case hardened percussion lock has reliable coil spring internals and is fitted to a hooked breech with a 6-.75mm threaded stainless steel nipple.
New in the box. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
