Neatly hand made by contemporary builder Leonard Day, this well made Kentucky pistol is stocked in dark stained black walnut. The brass furniture is polished bright and the hand engraved accents have been neatly shaded for contrast. The well tuned small Siler flintlock and 9-1/2" tapered round barrel are finished to a smooth dark brown.

The .575" caliber smoothbore 9-3/4" barrel has a wedding band 3-1/4" ahead of the breech. The breech end of the barrel is hand engraved with a blend of shell and scroll designs. The bore is bright in as-new condition. The barrel is fitted with a silver blade front sight. No rear sight is fitted in holster or belt pistol fashion instead the domed head tang bolt has the slot aligned with the barrel to create a rudimentary rear sight.

The bag shaped grip gently tapers and flares into the lock panels. The straight tang of the breech plug is accented with hand engraving as well as a panel of raised carving. The brass buttcap is mounted with a single screw and decorated with a hand engraved flowering star burst. The triggerguard has an acorn finial and the bow is engraved with a floral design. The ramrod pipes have an English influence with a short pointed skirt and raised thumbnail finial. The tapered ramrod is fitted with a flared tip with no provisions for threaded accessories. We recommend one of our pistol loading rods, #PL-7-54 for use with this pistol. The well shaped side panel gives this pistol a slender appearance through the lock panels. The brass sideplate is shaped with a pointed finial, filed molding across the tail and hand engraved.

The small Siler flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. When using our best 5/8" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-5, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition. The trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear.
