This rifle is inspired by an example of a King's German Legion Rifle shown in the book British Military Flintlock Rifles 1740 -1840 by De Witt Bailey Ph D. The original example was noted has having a mixture of 18th and 19th century influences and this rifle captures that style. This rifle is stocked in fancy English walnut and trimmed in polished brass furniture with a 18th century style. The Colerain swamped barrel is fitted to a hooked breech and secured with three wedge keys. The Rifle Shoppe flintlock was hand assembled by Dr. White and is finished with a blue black color case hardened finish. The rifle is signed by Dr. Gary White on the top flat of the barrel.

The Colerain Hessian Jaeger barrel has a 28-1/8" length. Thickest at the breech, tapering narrow at the waist, and flaring at the muzzle. The .62 caliber bore is rifled with six round bottom grooves with a 1 in 66" rate of twist. Colerain rifle barrels are the favorite choice of today's best muzzle loading gun makers, Colerain's customers agree that the accuracy, easy loading, and easy cleaning are worth the cost. A folding leaf rear sight is installed 6-1/2" ahead of the breech. A tall steel blade front sight is dovetailed behind the muzzle
The English walnut stock has a rich brown color that contrasts the brightly burnished brass furniture, and dark color case hardened finish on the lock and brown finish on the swamped barrel. The buttstock is fitted with a tall, nearly flat brass buttplate a design common to 18th century British military longarms.

This fullstock rifle is fitted with a sturdy steel ramrod with flared end. The steel ramrod is burnished to a satin sheen. The ramrod fits very snug in the ramrod pipes and requires a firm hand to remove. The ramrod does not have any provisions for threaded accessories.

Trigger reach is 14-1/2" for a larger or taller shooter. Weight is 9.3 pounds.
The top view shows the long stepped comb in English military rifle fashion. The long tang of the hooked breech helps to strengthen the wrist. The tang is finished to a blue gray color case hardened finish ans secured with fire blued tang bolt. All the bolts are neatly fitted with the slots aligned.
The rounded toe tapers into the lock panels. The brass triggerguard is shaped with a hazel nut style finial on the front of the triggerguard. The lock panels taper widest at the rear in early long gun fashion.
Ignition for the rifle is provided by this TOWER marked lock. Hand assembled from parts supplied by The Rifle Shoppe the lock has a dark color case hardened finish. In addition to the TOWER mark on the tail of the lock plate it is also marked with a crown over G.R. forward of the cock.

The lock is well positioned and a touch hole liner positioned directly above the center of the flash pan, high enough to serve as a window on the hottest part of the flash. The vent hole has been internally coned to provide good ignition. If your flint longrifle suffers from that infamous slow whoosh-bang ignition delay, study the work of today's best gun makers, and position your vent well centered on the pan, high above the bottom, to serve as a window on the center of the flash.
A mid 18th century style brass sideplate is fitted to this rifle and retained by two fire blued lock bolts. The English walnut stock display some attractive pattern and figure.
