Magnificent photography of decorated powder horns from America's early era of 1746 until 1781. One hundred fourteen decorated horns are shown in a cataloged sequence, with details on each maker, period, materials, decoration, and historical notes. Filled with large photographs of the horns, often in several views. Enlargements of scrimshaw details are larger than life. Several of the most interesting horns are shown in large full color plates. Hard bound, with 232 pages, an index and a bibliography. This 9 x 12" volume may become collectible some day.
