Stocked in walnut the pair of guns are trimmed in iron furniture, some of which is neatly engraved. The conversion locks are marked Patrick below the pans. A heavy patina has set into the guns, the lock plates are both lightly pitted with age, but at the correct angle the original frizzen and frizzen spring hole plugs can be seen. Light engraving can still be found on the hammers, the tail of the lock plate, and near the pan coming from around the single lock bolt.
Our top view of the pair of pistols shows off their octagon Damascus barrels and hooked breeches. The barrels have a brownish patina, though the corners of the octagon flats have worn bright. The tang of each breech is held in place by a single screw and has a simple rear sight positioned just behind the barrel. Both tangs are neatly engraved to add an extra level of decor to the guns. Behind each muzzle a simple, low, blade style sight has been installed. Accuracy was not so much an issue with these guns as they were much more short range "point and shoot" style firearms.
From below the triggerguards, rod pipes and ramrods of the brace of pistols can be seen. The iron furniture of the guns is in the same condition as the locks above, a dark gray patina has set in and the parts have seen some minor texturing. The two guns are identical down to their ebony tipped ramrods, they use the same guard and rod pipes while both ramrods have corkscrew worms on their hidden ends.
This backside view of the pistols shows off the single lock bolt of each gun. Neatly engraved, the lock bolts pass through the stock to engage the lock on the opposite side. Though not heavily damaged in any way, the guns do have their fair share of handling marks. One pistol, near the muzzle, has had a sliver of wood removed from the stock. The second gun has a pair of patches in the wood, very old, this repair work may even be original to the piece.
Our final look at the guns show them in their lined case. The small compartments include screwdrivers, an original cap box, the key for the case, and a small shot flask. The case measures 9" wide, 18-1/2" long, and 3-3/4" tall.
