Presentation Engraved 1851 Colt Navy Revolver,
Wild Bill Hickok Commemorative,
.36 caliber, 7-1/2" barrel,
nickel plated, engraved, faux ivory grips,
as-new, cased, by The American Historical Foundation

The engraved barrel is nickel plated with scrolls on the rear end, and a border around the muzzle end. The barrel is unmarked on visible surfaces, except for the bottom flat, which is stamped Cal .36 Black Powder Only - A. Uberti Italy . A pointed brass bead front sight is mounted near the muzzle. A notch in the hammer, serves as a rear sight. The notch in the hammer is small, for those who prefer a fine sight picture. The cylinder is factory roll engraved with a Naval battle scene, as found on the original Colt 1851 Navy revolver. The cylinder does not show any signs of being rotated. Our bottom view shows the nickel plated loading lever, wedge key, triggerguard and grip strap. The faux ivory grips are sculpted with a bold American eagle and the word "Liberty" below it. The inscription J.B. Hickok 1869 is inscribed on the backstrap, just like on Wild Bill Hickok's original pistol.
If you decide to shoot this revolver, the factory recommends a .375" diameter round ball. We recommend our .380" diameter round ball #BALL-380-X for best compression. You may need to slightly chamfer the chamber mouths. If your revolver shaves lead, slightly polish each chamber mouth with fine emery and a marble, until the ball seats fully, compressing the lead instead of shearing it.
Disassembly for cleaning is easy. Drive the wedge key out of the barrel, using our brass wedge key punch. Slide off the barrel, and cylinder. Wipe down the frame and grip, but avoid disassembly. It is wise to completely strip and clean the action about once per year, using a well fitted screwdriver made to fit the small screws. Remove the nipples with our #NW-140 nipple wrench, and wash the barrel, nipples, and cylinder with a bottle brush, in hot soapy water. Dry the parts with a cloth, or rinse them in boiling water, and apply oil. Apply a touch of Birchwood Casey's Choke Tube Lubricant to the threads of the nipples, before re-installing them. This anti-seize will prevent the nipples from becoming stuck, a real problem with neglected revolvers.
The wooden presentation case is lined with green velvet. The case measures 16-1/2" long, 9-5/8" wide, and 3-1/4" tall, and features a locking glass lid. The key is included. The identification plaque reads The Wild Bill Hickok Commemorative Revolver / Limited Edition / Issued by / The American Historical Foundation / Ashland, Virgina.
