Inspired by original pieces built by Charles Moore of London, this reproduction percussion English dueling pistol was produced by Davide Pedersoli of Italy. Offered in excellent condition the pistol includes the factory carton. This pistol is fitted with a single set trigger for target shooting. The single set trigger on these pistols is excellent. The .36 caliber bore is bright, clean, and ready to shoot. The grip is neatly checkered to provide a secure grip when aiming this pistol.
The heart of the pistol is its .36 caliber octagon barrel. Measuring 11” in overall length the barrel has 7 groove fast twist rifling. We recommend using a .350” ball, .010” patch, and 18 grains of FFFg black powder. The barrel is polished bright. The left oblique flat of the barrel is stamped with the serial number and proof marks. It is also marked PEDERSOLI – ITALY CAL. 36 and BLACK POWDER ONLY. A blued iron post front sight is dovetailed directly behind the muzzle. A tall flat top blued rear sight is dovetailed just ahead of the breech to maximize the sight radius.
The walnut stock of the pistol is in excellent condition, showing no handling marks. The grip is neatly checkered. All of the furniture, including the lock, have been polished bright to match the barrel. From below the polished triggerguard and ramrod entry pipe can be seen. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 10-32 cleaning and loading accessories. We recommend our #PL-5-36 to better service this pistol. Our back view shows the pair of lock bolts that pass through the stock to engage the lock on the opposite side.
The percussion lock has been polished bright to match the barrel. The lock is fitted with a fly detent, and strong mainspring for fast lock time. The blued powder drum is fitted with an iron 1/4-28 nipple for number 11 percussion caps. The nipple is surrounded with a nickel silver flash cup. The single set trigger is double phase it will fire the lock, set or unset. Push the trigger forward until it latches to set the trigger. The trigger adjustment screw directly behind the trigger controls the engagement in the set position.
