This Kentucky pistol is stocked in black walnut, with a warm brown tone. This pistol is trimmed in neatly fitted brass Georgian style furniture that appears to be from the late William Kennedy. A few Colonial American makers produced pistols with Georgian style furniture, such as J.P. Beck from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The brass furniture has a satin hand burnished tone and nicely compliments the tone of the walnut stock. The octagon-to-round barrel is finished to a dark blue and the small Queen Anne Siler flintlock is finished armory bright. The frizzen has only a few marks from spark testing, and the bright finish has a mellow patina from long storage.

The 8-1/2" octagon-round barrel has a 3-3/4" tapered octagon breech with a single wedding band to round. The .50 caliber bore is rifled with a fast twist for a patched round ball. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. The barrel is fitted with a flat top rear sight on the tang to maximize the sight radius and a polished silver blade front sight. The small Queen Anne flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. When using our best 3/4" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-6, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. A steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition. The steel liner blends into the blue finish on the barrel.

The walnut stock has a slender grip fitted with a grotesque mask buttcap. Viewed from above the breech end of the barrel is fitted with a rounded tang. The tang is surrounded by a panel of raised carving with a English influenced shell design. The stock is shaped with graceful slender proportions. The triggerguard is correctly mounted by one steel screw and dowel pins. The rear extension has been neatly inlet into the pistol grip. All of the brass furniture is finished to a hand burnished satin appearance. The buttcap is shaped with a grotesque mask mounted with a iron screw. The slender 5/16" diameter ramrod has a flared brass tip. We recommend using a pistol loading rod, our #PL-50, and leaving this well fitted ramrod with the pistol. Two lock bolts secure the small Queen Anne flintlock to the pistol. The brass sideplate is burnished bright with a chiseled design. The elaborate openwork design is patterned from a antique example, which was designed to show the skill of the inletting by the English gunmakers of the period.
