This slender halfstock sporting rifle is stocked in maple and trimmed in browned iron furniture with a poured pewter forend cap. The slender shaping on the maple stock combined with the 32" long straight octagon barrel give this rifle a modest weight and handy length, making it ideal to carry afield. As new, unfired, this rifle was neatly hand assembled by contemporary builder J.A. Wymore. Trigger reach is 14" to fit today's average size shooter. Weight is 8.3 pounds, and it balances just behind the rear sight.

The Green Mountain .58 caliber 32" barrel is 1" octagon. Rifled with eight equal lands and grooves with a 1 in 70" twist for a patched round ball. Green Mountain Muzzle Loading Rifle Barrels are machined from high quality American made bar stock, A.I.S.I. 1137 modified, stress relieved, annealed, certified rifle barrel quality steel. All barrels are drilled from solid stock, reamed to a high degree of smoothness, then optically checked for straightness. Very close tolerances are maintained. We recommend our .570" pure lead round ball, patched with .015" Ox-Yoke patching, lubricated with our Mink Oil tallow patch grease, if you require best accuracy. The rear sight is a semi buckhorn dovetailed 9-1/2" from the breech. The front sight is a browned steel blade dovetailed behind the muzzle.

The maple stock has a warm brown tone with a satin finish. The buttstock is fitted with a steel English style buttplate to engage the shooter's shoulder. Felt recoil should be spread over the large surface area. The wrist has a checkered panel to provide the shooter with a secure grip. The forearm is fitted with an nickel silver escutcheon plate for the barrel pin. A poured pewter forend cap protects the end grain of the stock. The rounded toe fades into the lock panels. The English style triggerguard is threaded to the trigger plate, and the rear finial is secured with a screw. The steel mounting screw has the slot neatly aligned with the barrel. The 3/8" diameter ramrod is fitted with a steel tip with 8-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories. The single lock bolt secures the tear drop sideplate and lock to the stock. The buttstock is shaped without a cheekpiece in shotgun fashion.

The Jim Chambers Siler's Mountain percussion lock is a classic, circa 1840 - 1850 style, with rounded tail notched for a 1/2" powder drum. This caplock has been browned to a smooth brown finish. The lock has a strong mainspring, for sure-fire ignition, and fast lock time. The single trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear. The drum is fitted with a stainless steel nipple.

This halfstock longrifle is new, unfired. The large caliber rilfe has a handy length barrel, modest weight, and percusison lock mated to a single trigger. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
